Hello folks! VHG has been receiving a lot of e-mails regarding its 2026 Spring Travel Program. See below for some Q and A regarding the upcoming Travel Program:
Common Question #1: When will tryouts be?
Answer to Question #1: VHG does not have formal tryouts for its travel program. VHG uses minor hockey level played as a guideline for team breakup/selection. On occasion, players will move up or down based on our staff teams evaluation.
Common Question #2: Where and when do teams travel?
Answer to Question #2: VHG will be staying in Canada for all its trips in 2026. Teams travel dates depend on tournament host dates, which are usually set in early 2026 (multiple months ahead of scheduled start date). Rough dates of travel – between late April 2026 and mid-June 2026.
Common Question #3: How do I sign up? What is the sign-up process?
Answer to Question #3: We give last years travel program participants first opportunity to sign up for the Travel Program, along with the V2 members from our various classes. This is usually a 2-3 week “early bird” registration period. After that period finishes, we open up the program to Drop-in members, Rural Skills Camp participants, and the general public. There will be a sign-up link via Formstack that will be available in the ‘Register Here’ tab of our web site when “early bird” registration ends.
Early Bird Sign-up will begin in Mid-October 2025 (2-3 weeks). The general public will be able to put their name forth in early November 2025.
Common Question #4: What is the order in which things occur?
Answer to Question #4: After VHG processes the travel program interest for each age division, VHG will pursue recruiters. VHG/recruiters will begin recruiting open positions in mid-to-late November. Deposits are required by 1/31/2026; after deposits are in, equipment packages are ordered by VHG. Practices and team activities leading up to travel occur later in the Spring (late March/early April) and go up to and including the final week before travel. Final balances are usually charged a couple of weeks before the trip happens.
Common Question #5: What is included in the Spring 2026 Travel Program package?
Answer to Question #5:
*** Practice/game time leading up to the off-island trip (7 hours*)
*** Custom jersey/hockey socks
*** Tournament and coaches fees
*** Attire (1 hoodie, 1 t-shirt, 1 pair of athletic shorts, 1 pair of sunglasses)
*** One (1) team meal
*** One (1) hour training session @ Power Conditioning
*** Two (2) Hockey Homework Stickhandling Videos
*** Player insurance
*** The above items are packaged together for a fee to VHG. All other costs (hotel in travel destination, rental vehicle, airfare, gas, personal spending money) are separate costs that the players and families are responsible for. If travelling with close friends, sharing a rental vehicle and hotel fares can help reduce cost of the trip.
