Maggie S letting one rip

We have been receiving a high volume of questions surrounding our Summer 2022 Program Plan. Before we get into any detail, we would like to thank everyone for showing interest in our program! It is very much appreciated.

Here are some frequently asked questions relating to our Summer 2022 Programs

Q: At what age does VHG start programming this summer?

A: VHG will offer programming for players born between the years of 1999-2009 up to and including the middle of August. Later in the summer, we will expand our offerings to include 2010’s and 2011’s; we will have a U13 AAA Sweat Camp starting mid-August and running until Labour Day (2-3 evenings per week before tryouts). Up until Mid-August, we strongly support younger athletes playing other sports to improve their hockey skills while enhancing their well-being and mobility.

Q: Will you have traditional week-long Summer camps like other private hockey programs around the province?

A: No, we will not be offering traditional Summer camps (this type of camp being 4-5 hours of activities during the daytime hours Monday-Friday). If you would like information on NL Growlers Summer 2022 programming, please contact jeremy@nlgrowlers.com as Growlers Academy program co-ordinator Jeremy Kavanagh is also involved with VHG as a minority shareholder and part-time instructor!

Q: What types of programs are you offering in the Summer of 2022?

A: We will offer skills sessions and games for players who will be attending Hockey NL’s High Performance Program, as well as players who will be attending training camps, prep schools and colleges in the Fall. On the guys side – U14 (2009), U15 (2008) U18 (2005-2006-2007), CQ Pro (1999-2001), and Junior (2002-2003-2004-2005). On the girls side – U16 (2007-2008-2009), U18 (2005-2006 with some 2004), and College/Prep (2006 and older).

Q: When will you be taking registration and releasing a schedule for your Summer 2022 programming?

A: We are in the process of taking internal registration within our current morning clients, as they get first opportunity to join our Summer 2022 classes. After March 21st, we will be opening up registration to the general public and sharing the Summer 2022 program schedule online at www.vhghockey.ca in our News and Schedules tabs. Spaces will be very limited as we have a high retaining rate from the previous term. We will also be releasing more details on the programming to include price, skills taught, arena(s) used, and so on.

Q: At what time of day are you doing your programming? You are usually a morning program

A: We will only be offering morning programming during the summer to some of our oldest clients. Due to most off-ice training businesses operating early in the morning, the vast majority of our program will be in the evening between 6 and 10 pm, Monday to Friday. There will be no programming on the weekends unless clients request private or semi-private training.
